Decorative plate | LUXEMBOURG GARDEN CHAIR
Description
Created in 1612 at the request of Marie de Medici, the Jardin du Luxembourg is one of the springtime rendezvous for lovers of Paris. Marin Montagut captures it with one of its most famous accessories: its emblematic green chair, the CHAISE DU LUXEMBOURG . The illustration is here on a decorative papier-mâché plate.
Developed in the 17th century, papier-mâché was was the material of choice before the invention of plastic. Made of natural materials, it was and still is traditionally used for large heads and giant figures in carnivals. In the 60s, many artists used it, such as Jean Dubuffet, and it continues to be used by contemporaries.
Inspired by this tradition, Marin Montagut has imagined a series of decorative wall plates handmade in papier-mâché in Paris. The collection is made and hand-painted in watercolor in Marin Montagut's workshops. It is ideal for decorating your walls with rare and delicate pieces.
This plate is for decorative purposes only.
