Description
Created in 1612 at the request of Marie de Medici, the JARDIN DU LUXEMBOURG is one of the springtime rendezvous for lovers of Paris. Marin Montagut sketches it from an aerial view and accompanied by its most illustrious accessories, such as its palm trees and its emblematic green chairs. The watercolor illustration is declined here in a wall board.
The decorative wall board was created in collaboration: it was hand-drawn by Marin Montagut and then printed by Antoinette Poisson. Marin created the original drawings himself while respecting the spirit of the 18th century engravings. True to the quality of the materials used at the time, "À Paris chez Antoinette Poisson" then pressed its illustrations sheet by sheet in their Parisian workshop, using a press, on 100% pure rag laid artisanal domino paper handmade in France. Finally, Marin fixed each engraving on two wooden sticks that roll up on themselves like a parchment and close with a grosgrain ribbon in the manner of the handwritten cards of the time.
The limited series in colors, signed and numbered from 1 to 200 for each garden is exclusively hand painted in watercolor, one by one.
